Pomona, Los Angeles County
Cal Poly Pomona occupies the former winter ranch of cereal maker W.K. Kellogg, who raised Arabian horses there in the 1920s. The university moved onto the property in 1956, and it still keeps a herd of Arabians and stages horse shows, as the Kellogg gift required. Students also build a float for the Rose Parade each year with their sister campus in San Luis Obispo.
